Sick Day

about

What’s your soul worth? On the journey to success, there are moments when an individual comes face to face with their sacrifices. Although there are perks to having, what one might call, a “prosperous life,” Call Me Ace can’t get caught up in the world’s definition of “status” when he values other things as more important, such as supporting his family, many of whom he left on the East Coast to pursue his purpose. His past hard decisions, in a way, have been bearing fruit, but the pain of the sacrifices he’s made to get where he is now can get so overwhelming that, in this moment, he needs to take a “sick day” from work. From responsibilities. From life.

Aight question

[Verse 1]
How much your soul worth?
7 figures? 6 figures?
RSUs make you rich quicker
Relo made your life more easy to pickup
In foreign land livin’ on status and free dinner (wow)
Daily happy hours we drown our choices in liquor
We no beginners
Who gon’ fish us up who gon’ save us who gon’ deliver?
And who said I needed saving
My savings been getting thicker
Light gettin’ dimmer tho if I’m for real tho
My fire used to sizzle now it barely kindle (wow)
I used to shine and glimmer now I barely grin bro
I promise life had meaning now it’s just a symbol
They tell me I could just leave but it ain’t as simple (nah)
Got open mouths to feed, got a spouse with needs
Open mouth to breathe
Lungs pullin’ less with every second
First the vision disappears then the consciousness second

[Chorus]
Uhh, think I’ma take a sick day
Nah I can’t work today I need a sick day
I don’t wanna work today I’ll take a sick day
Uhh, I’ma take a sick day
Nah nah I can’t work I need a sick day
Nah I can’t work today I need a sick day
Hello
Sick day
Yea yea yea yea yea yea

[Verse 2]
Sick day (yea)
I remember fakin’ my illness in sixth grade
Nurse call my Auntie she pick me up swiftly
Wouldn’t tell my mama so long as I did great (shh)
Honor rolls meant lobster rolls and chicken wings
Hash brown and griddles in the morning
As she drop me at the door of the school
Told me learn something new
So I learn how to audible my life thanks to Christ
Went from rags to livin’ in my rich phase (wow)
In my “20 percent for tip” phase (wow)
In my “round it up cause I don’t like the cents” phase (wow)
In my “nah yo I got it don’t gotta split it man we did it
Payin’ all the tax and I ain’t trip” phase (sheesh)
Outside lookin’ in sound like this great
Inside lookin’ in like “is this made?”
I’d trade it all for more time with my loved ones I lost
When I left and moved here to get paid man

[Chorus]
Uhh, think I’ma take a sick day
Nah I can’t work today I need a sick day
I don’t wanna work today I’ll take a sick day
Uhh, I’ma take a sick day
Nah nah I can’t work I need a sick day
Nah I can’t work today I need a sick day
Hello
Sick day
Yea yea yea yea yea yea
