Talk To Me

from Out Of Office by Call Me Ace

about

Which boundaries are required for honoring your worth and self-respect? On his path to pursuing a music and corporate career, Call Me Ace has seen naysayers turn into disingenuous “supporters” who only measure his value according to how he can progress them forward or how they can gain visibility by association. He has also experienced spectators who have attempted to exaggerate “knowing” him beyond his public brand. But is it admirable or problematic? Ace would rather engage with authenticity to avoid undesirable and depleting situations. But even though it’s instinctive for Ace to connect and empower others, is every interaction worth it?

lyrics

[Intro]
Unh
High Grade

[Verse 1]
Who’da thought the one they counted out
Said was down and out be the same one they scoutin’ out (hmm)
Tried to lock me in now they proud I’m out (what?)
“Always knew you’d be the one!” oh you countin’ now (hah)
Call Me A-C-E no need to sound it out
Thought it was a game show the way I flip these vowels and nouns (hah)
I’ll show you how to stand out in the loudest crowd (yup)
Been doin’ this for a minute they just found it out
So of course got a growin’ list of folk wanna talk
Cause they figured I could help em build a fortune
Wifey say I give too much of myself
Without no thoughts of how much it cost us
She’d prefer that I be cautious, too many losses (yea)
Many people that had crossed us
They only talkin’ ‘til they reap you then get lost
It be so exhausting but I don’t really be concerned (nah)
Gotta trust what I discern
What you sowin’ will return like

[Chorus]
Talk to me talk to me
Let me know what you want from me, want from me
I been givin’ you all of me, all of me
So tell me what you want from me, want from me
I love it when you talk to me, talk to me
Let me know what you want from me, want from me
I been givin’ you all of me, all of me
So tell me what you want from me

[Verse 2]
Listen
Six figures but still livin’ in survival mode (sheesh)
Big bills but I don’t idol those (nah)
Crazy résumé they think that I’m entitled bro
Couldn’t care less about these titles though
Me I just live by the code
Figured that was logical
Pushin’ for a common goal, to embody the impossible
Got a lot of private messages that sayin’ I’m a role model bro
Now I feel like it ain’t optional (wow)
It’s kinda dope how we rose up from the dirt
Started nominal at first now they admirin’ our worth
I try to give ‘em me in every audio and verse
But then people think they “know me” know me
I don’t know what’s worse (what?)
Always got a heart for people bettering they self (yea)
Tryna play they hand way more better than was dealt (yup)
But if ye ain’t got respect for me then what about yourself?
Real recognize real, you could tell
